In response to "We have a joke here - what follows the first day of Spring in N MI? Blizzard. -- nm" by JenBro

A few years ago when we lived in Seattle, we drove over the Cascades to go to Crash's grandfather's funeral. We stayed the weekend and drove back on

April 4. As we hit the mountains it started to snow pretty hard. When we got to Snoqualmie Pass, I couldn't see 10 feet ahead or the lines (painted in that reflective paint) on the side of the road and dividing the lanes, it was a big time blizzard. Crash was sick with the flu and couldn't drive, so I was white-knuckling it all the way over the mountains. There is no place to pull off, you just have to keep going. I finally got right up behind a semi, running his emergency lights, and stuck tight. It took 2+ hours to get over the pass and it normally takes 20 minutes. Thank god I was going west, because that side hugs the mountain. East bound you have a drop-off that averages 1000 feet. The next day my hands just ached from gripping the wheel.

I don't have a problem driving in snow, but I never never never want to do a mountain pass in a blizzard at night, ever again.
