...his parents were not happy. When I picked him up at the airport on Sunday, he told me they said that whatever I wasn't happy with he needed to fix because with his younger sister entering college they didn't have the funds for his costs to increase.
We had a good talk and he's going to try harder so this next quarter is like a probationary period. He gave me a sealed letter from his parents thanking me for everything I've done to help him and to please give him another chance. They are ecstatic he's getting a 3.4-3.5 now vs the 2.7 he had before moving in and really want him to stay until he graduates. They are perfectly willing to pay me full rent for the summer months when he's not around so that I will hold the room for him. They wanted to know if there was anything I needed for the house that they could get me and they want to sit down with me at the end of this term to strategize about their son's options for employment and internships.
I didn't have to tell them anything. Slackerboy basically ratted himself out to them.
