And just out of curiousity, are either you or your wife particularly religious? Catholics regard Lent as a sacrament. I commorates Jesus's 40 days and nights in the wildrness before he rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Some Protestant denominations (Presbyterian, Episcopal, Lutheran, and Methodist mostly) treat it as a time to sacrifice and devote to prayer. If you don't fall into either category, you're just doing it to be doing it and it really doesn't matter much, does it?
