1988 is then a GOP free-for all, Dole wins that race and beats Dukakis...

Clinton then wins in 1992 and order is pretty much the same except he beats up on someone else in 96 (Lamar Alexander maybe)?

The only thing really changed is Reagan's optimism is replaced with Bush's more ... sedate personality.
