Relationships poll: Is there a common point break for a couples who are not moving forward, just dating continuously?

Moving forward as in escalating the seriousness, for instance meeting each other's friends and family, then moving in together, getting engaged, having kids etc.

How long will relationships go on when they are stagnant, i.e. still just meeting/intimacy?

An answer of what you yourself would feel about it, is just as good.
