If you fought for the Confederacy, you supported the abhorrent practice of holding human beings as property.
There really aren't any reasons that can excuse that.

how many of them actually had a choice whether to fight or not? and for which side? I thought the army came to town and took everyone with them. -- nm

I'm sure there were conscripts who fought against their will. But would you be honoring those folks by using the stars and bars?
