it's not bragging, nor, to me, is the shared good feeling about being able to pay-off ccs every month.

I feel good about that myself, in large part because I wasn't always able to do that. being able to, even though it's been possible for many years now, *still* feels good.
I worked hard to be able to get to that, and I still work to save/not waste money (more than a number of people I know who are in serious debt - ugh), partially because that debtor feeling was *awful* to me.
