you've been lucky. you have to know how many stories there are out there about people (some even with insurance) who are financially devastated

when something unexpected happens.
all of my medical bills from kidhood up until the time of my car accident didn't pay my insurance costs, but the ~1 million in bills to date (and more ahead) - yah, they waywayway tipped it the other way.
