Which is why I wouldn't phrase it like that. :)

I would go with something close to what he said here. "My grandmother gave me her mother's wedding ring for when I'm ready to make that commitment."
It's entirely possible that she already has a ring in mind or perhaps has her own family heirloom awaiting that day.
