I think it's completely different - one child is a whole different ballgame then the ole bait/switch. In a one child family - maybe the husband

fulfilled his obligation? maybe it's more reasonable to say " hey, we have a kid already".
still....mothering and sometimes fathering is a different need for each person. You hope those needs match up.
