Do people who come here need to learn English? We don't have an actual national language.

Sure, it's de facto our language, but it doesn't have to be.
And who's to say people aren't trying to learn? It's not something you pick up in a day. Our language is dumb.

Most of the world learns english AND a foriegn language, almost anywhere you can find someone who speaks it, here you have far less chance of

i figure it's supposed to be a free country, myself. i think people should learn english because it's the lingua franca of business here and so....

in some ways our language is ridiclously easy to learn. No gendered nouns, hardly any tenses and our vocabulary is pilfered from every other language. -- nm
