For one thing, absorb the same national media. That, in and of itself, gives more sampling of "What's going on in the country?" better than the...

...Quebec-focused media does.

The other issue is the Bloc. The province continues to elect a large group who, by-definition, can never be part of the Canadian gov't. That is inheirently bad because essentially you're (Quebec) just saying, "Do whatever you want, but we'll send a lobby group to demand more and focus only on us." Again, not good for Canadian unity or governance.

Finally, there is a lot more families where it is quite common for siblings to be spread out across the country. That gives more flavour and sense of unity. French families in Quebec tend to remain in Quebec. Again, understandable considering the society differences between the province and ROC, but not particularly good for the entity called "Canada".
