My big beef isn't with his ideas, but the lack of editing his books undergo. Calling him verbose doesn't quite cover

the extent of his wordiness.

He a JK Rowling both have diarrhea of the pen.


I re-read The Stand when it was reissued and "updated" for its 10 th anniversary. They went through and changed dates to make it "current" but no-one bothered to check to see if cultural references were still relevant. The big one I remember was the main character buying a brand new Datsun from the dealer when the Datsun name had been Nissan for nearly 8 years at that point.

Editing is a vital necessity, especially when writers get successful.
