I worked out that my version of QGIS was buggy and wasn't exporting attributes. Once I updated it, the attributes went out. Then I discovered that I can't use color coding in Google Earth unless I get Pro. oh well! So I'm doing it manually.

My next issue is how to put a map legend in GE. From poking around the web, looks like I might have to hack it and import a graphic or something, unless you know a better way.
