due to a neck fusion surgery he had in 2003 that fused 3 veterbrae together...after years of pounding he developed stenoisis...

which if I recall correctly, is a shrinking of the spinal column above and below the fuse vertebrae.
He started to lose control of his arms and hands with uncontrollable shaking. So he went to the docs and they told him he needed to retire now. So he finished at Wrestlemania and kept his belt....
