ANONYMOUS HARRASSMENT - WHAT TO DO?
Someone at work either has a crush on me or wants to murder me. The thing is, I have no idea who it is. Last week was my bday (but I never said it was - I don't celebrate my bday at work). I came in to find a wrapped gift on my desk. It was a sex toy. It was not a gag gift because my coworkers didn't know it was my bday. So someone did some snooping to find out. I'm also getting creepty texts on my work phone (blocked #) and other "gifts" (like cookies or flowers but with no card). I went to HR and they were useless. I'm thinking of going to our CEO's office hours (we have a good relationship) but I'm reluctant and worried I'm overreacting. I'm mortified to have to tell them about the embarrassing gift. I tend to downplay uncomfortable situations so I don't trust my instincts - is this something worth escalating since HR's answer was to "let them know if someone threatens me"? There are cameras everywhere and they aren't willing to see who left the gross gift.
