There are certain things where you have to have your suspension of disbelief in 'on' mode and that's fine but when reading that I began to wonder how will they convey that scene on screen.
I do hope Gary Ross takes some license to show more of how this comes across to people watching it on TV - particularly the parents of Tributes who are watching their kids die live on TV. That should not be done lightly.
