ding or even askes the groom's side if they so bless the union.

women are not property to be exchanged for payment of dowry...anymore. though it should be said that marriage records are usually kept by the same department as real estate recordings.

(btw, licenses in my county are issued by the same clerks who issue dog licenses too)
