I have a problem with the writing too but I'm not sure it's the same as yours.

One is that it's very strange to see words like "Sexy" in an environment that's written to be post-apocalyptic. I think there are anachronisms spattered throughout. And despite the casting ideas for Haymitch he comes across as a bureaucrat rather than some former physical champion, to me.

And also Katniss is kind of a bitch.
