CS5 is the current version of the full suite. It is pretty expensive, but it's the clear winner in that space.

Personally I use Photoshop Elements because I can't justify the cost of CS5 for the stuff I do.

I believe Adobe offers a free trial period for its products. Photoshop can be overwhelming at first if you are unfamiliar with programs like this. I highly recommend that Kelby Training site to quickly learn the tricks.
