A red-tailed hawk living on a ledge at NYU has a serious medical condition that could kill her.

The mother of two red-tailed hawks that were born on Friday has a metal band on her leg that has tightened and is causing circulation issues in her leg. If it isn't removed soon the leg may have to be amputated and she wouldn't be able to be released back into the wild to take care of the babies.

The good news we got yesterday was that the should be able to reach her through a nearby window. If they can trap her they can remove the band and treat the leg and she should be fine.

I'm very worried about the hawk and I hope everything turns out well over the next few days.
