I'd like to propose that laws to be voted on have limited range of attachments/riders. A 'single subject' rule.
as it is now, most laws come with more crap pinned to them than crabs and lice on (pick your favorite STr with a slutty reputation) after a week in vegas.
you know those campaign ads were the bitch announcer drips venomous hate for your candidate because they voted against puppies, widows and orphans and veterans or for nazis, terrorists and drug users? Well almost always they are pointing to some rider appended to a bill that was for some good.
and sometimes important bills get killed because of all the odious crap stuck to them, Amber alerts was derailed for a couple years because the first time some assholes stuck a bunch of crap to the main bill that its sponsors couldn't pass it without being stuck with a bunch of nasty stuff.
I'd say two thirds of the worst of political shit that happens in DC would be stymied if laws had to be passed without all the pork barrel and other crap that gets appended to bills with totally different subjects.
this one thing would do more than killing off lobbiests and PAC money at cleaning up washington.
