maybe you are right - but in this case the movie studios actually know what they got before hand

as with Twilight - they were behind on how popular it was going to be. " Whoops we are going to need a bigger budget and better director - this is more popular than we thought"
marketing will at least be gigantic
I still think bigger but I am not an expert on this stuff.
