remember my last job? how I worked like a dog and could never get anywhere? they hired a replacement for me at a huge premium.

my replacement lasted three months and resigned, saying "the job is just too big for one person."

I never felt like a failure, exactly, and certainly I never second-guessed my decision to leave (for personal reasons as well as professional), but it is nice to know that someone with decades of industry experience and who had a lot more to lose by leaving opted to go as well.

I was not wrong. the fight was unwinnable for me, continues to be unwinnable.

I feel strangely vindicated.
