You have to go blindly at first. A good trick IMO is to pick a target early, and if some players start defending him/her and change the target, they

may be foxes trying to save another fox. If you get your way, the person is killed and turns out to be a fox, it's a very good start towards identifying foxes

And once you get lucky and the hens kill a fox, you get a lot of info. The people who voted for that person are unlikely to be foxes too (though it's still a possibility)
