Dearest ST, we are going to play a game.
You may remember I posted about this game a few weeks ago. It didn't work there, but I think it could work here. If you're interested, send me a gmail at notnub. When we get 20 total players, we'll begin.
--
ST is now a henhouse. Most of you will be hens. Three of you will be foxes. But you can't tell who is a hen and who is a fox. Each round the hens will vote to ambush one member of the group. If you ambush a fox, good for you. If you ambush a hen you've eliminated a member of your community. The game ends when all three foxes are ambushed or all the hens are eaten.
Hens should discuss the game on ST. You can discuss openly who the foxes are, strategies for the next ambush, or the quality of the chicken feed. When you are ready, you vote by choosing a member with all caps, as in: AMBUSH NUBBY. Once half + 1 of the players have voted (even if the vote is split) the round will end.
Once the round ends, the Foxes will submit to me their pick of a hen to eat. They will send the pick via gmail or FB message. They an only eat one hen between rounds.
Then I will announce who was ambushed and who was eaten. Obviously the foxes will never eat another fox, but they hens could, in their panic, ambush a hen by mistake. The Foxes will keep their identity secret.
The hen house will have some advantages, however. One of the hens will be randomly assigned as a Vigilant Hen, and can choose once per round to ask me if a person is a fox or a hen. This person can contact me privately and ask the identity of a member and i will answer "fox" or "hen." A second Hen will be Chicken Cochran, a hen attorney. He can choose one hen to protect each night using he legal powers. He can't protect the same hen every night, and he can't protect himself. A third hen is really The Chanticleer. The Chanticleer is so clever he can survive a fox attack once.
Once the table is set, I will message each of you your roles. Most of you will be basic hens, three of you will be foxes, and three of you will be special hens (or more properly, two hens and a Rooster).
Foxes, of course, can post to ST pretending to be hens, and hens can announce their hen-hood, but how can you tell?
Good luck. I'll repeat this message tomorrow and keep repeating it until 20 players sign up or it's apparent to me that there isn't enough interest.
