What's this fox/hen thing?

ok, so based on a quick skimming, it appears there's two teams "foxes" and "hens", but only the foxes know the other members of team fox?

Everyone votes, acting like "hens", to try and pick off "foxes", but with some collateral damage of picking off their own "hens" in the process?

Did I get that right (mostly)? how does one team, or individual "win" the game?
