He quit. Others just tank the weigh-in when they want to leave. He stood up and declared that he was done and was quitting the contest.
Frankly I'm glad they didn't include him for that reason. I would have liked to see them DQ about half of them this season -- I've never seen so many people who fought to get on the show then give up and purposely go home.
