The people running Survivor clearly believe that an entire season of new cast members is too risky. As such, they have made the determination to cast someone who has a story each iteration as we move forward. I think that for someone like Brenda or Erik, it makes sense. I can even see the justification for Sandra, whom I expect was given a massive participation bonus to play again. With Coach and Phillip, it's just the Village Idiot role. They can't win and it's a detriment to the cause. That is just my opinion, though. There may be a lot of casual viewers who don't want Sandra back since her game is beyond their understanding but they love that crazy FBI feller and the Dragon Slayer makes for good teevee.
