Because that thing that happened in that book you read when you were 12? Yeah, that thing is no longer considered sacrosanct and inviolate

and the new stories are free to ignore it.
In other words, all those nerds that can quote chapter and verse of what happened to super minor character Q in extra special double sized issue #14 of Hero F's book that was cancelled 15 years before you wee born no longer can impress other comic book nerds with that recall.
Now they'll be able to get together, sit on the porch, yell at the kids to get off their lawn and commiserate about how things used to be better in the good old days.
