I think that if Nadal can play for another 2-4 years, he will be best ever.

He's ahead of Fed's pace right now, but is a lot harder on his body, too. Gotta keep in mind that Fed is five years older than Nadal and should have been well past his high point already. Bjorg retired completely at Nadal's age.

(so the short answer is that Nadal has played him at points when Fed was *theoretically* well past his prime.
