The concern is that while he may be fine now, as an player with an "old-player" skill set, once he starts declining, he'll walk away from the sport, or not be inclined to work and lengthening his performance peak (or his career for that matter).

Honestly, I think it's mostly crap, but the rumors have been going on for quite a while, and JP Ricciardi got into a lot of trouble for voicing those rumors.
