He couldn't be more wrong in the let's penalize these guys for future stuff.

it's a clear misunderstanding of what roles college football fills for the universities. It's pure and simple the profit-maker and in return for exploiting the kids, the kids get prepared for a profession.

The answer is legitimate paying the kids, even if it's something as simple as mandating names on jerseys and the player gets a cut of what their merchandise sells.

But until we've come to that, cheating is cheating and your job is to make sure your program stays as far above the fray as possible.

OSU's greatest sin here isn't that one kid got paid, its that the coach knew about it and did nothing. Secondary, every warning bell known to man shoulda been flashing re: Pryor's cars and lifestyle....but OSU didn't seem to notice.

There's willful ignorance, and then there's lack of institutional control (Tressel) and institutional awareness.
