their hardware costs have come down and unless they want to continue to lose even more ground they need those boxes to at least be smewhat competitive pricewise.

Honestly, I think if the hardware costs had come down that much, they would have cut the price in November.

totally disagree. these are different quarters, which makes it a different proposition. they had promised shareholders a lot....

But wouldn't the net effect for the quarter be that Sony has lost more money than the previous quarter?

it's a bad choice either way. but they simply can't continue to lose market share in the console space imo. that's the real bottom line...
