Some analysis of last night's premiere of the Bachelor (spoilers, of course)

The girls were largely similar to Deanna, the girl who ditched Jason. (I'm still pissed with Deanna. She knew he had a kid. So why drag it out? Why keep leading him on when she could have cut him loose and sent him home to his family?) It's no surprise regarding the similarities since there's probably profiling that goes on before the show and they try to match the bachelor to the girls who best meet his criteria (and, conversely, he initially met Deanna's criteria).
There were four single moms. Numerous women who had been married before (at least one widow). 22 of the 25 women were in their twenties (the last three were aged 32, 34 and 36). The range was from 23 to 36 (two were 23).
There were two Canadians (both from Alberta, although one randomly claimed to be from Vancouver). One from Brazil (although she had probably lived in the U.S. for a while). Two from Utah. One was from Texas although a second claimed to also be from Texas. One was from Jason's home town of Seattle.
There were no African-Americans in the group, although most of them were so tanned with bronzer, I couldn't be absolutely certain. Too many of the women appeared plastic, which is surprising given how young they're supposed to be. Their dresses were, for the most part, much too revealing. Coupled with the overdone hair, the fake tans, and the plastic look, it was like watching a pack of "cougars" or an episode of Rock of Love (same difference). Again, very odd given their relatively young ages.
Immediately, Jason sent home both single-moms from Utah (but kept the two other single-moms). He also sent home the girl from Seattle and one of the girls from Alberta (but not the one who sometimes claims to be from Vancouver). He, thankfully, also dismissed the... unusual "vision board" girl.
The "First Impression" rose went to Nikki, from Blue Island, IL. She's attractive and did not fall into many of the fashion or cosmetic pitfalls of many of the other girls. She's, by a mile, the front runner right now. Jillian from Alberta is the underdog. The rest are just fodder.
