Does Geek Squad charge to look at a computer and give an estimate to fix?

My mom's laptop screen is dead, or won't power up, or something. Cheap Dad wants to know how much they will charge to look at it.

Don't know about Geek Squad, but standard PC fixin' (TV, too) usually involves a fee to "look at it" which is deducted should you choose to repair it. -- nm
