Super 8: B+. It might have gotten A- if not for (spoiler)

the damn lens flares. In Star Trek I wrote it off as "effect". When it first showed up in Super 8 I wondered if he had to quickly reshoot the train station scenes and had to settle for it. And then it really wasn't an issue for me until near the end it was right in Kyle Chandler's eyes!!! And then one final flash near the end of The Case. I now believe he did it on purpose to piss off the people who complained about it in Star Trek.

Not having seen Stand By Me, I'm going with a E.T. meets Cloverfield comparison.
