Season 5 is written like John Wells went ot Aaron Sorkin's fantasy writing camp and forgot that the plots aren't one-offs.

I got it! Let's solve Social Security!! 48 minutes later. TA-DA!.
contrast with Season 1 where getting a Supreme Justice confirmed took 6 episodes of pacing; they managed to recruit 2 in 48 minutes in Season 5. (one of my faves only cuz Close and Fichner were sterling and the writing was exemplary).
Season 6 when they start to point toward a real election instead of Sorkin's wet dream of Season 4 is fantastic.
