Louis C.K. was hysterically funny as always, but the surprise treat was the 3 unnamed guests. They turned out to be Jake Johannson, Richard Lewis and Steven Wright. I had zero expectations that they were going to have real comedy stars as openers. My only disappointment was that it could have been longer. With each of the openers doing 10-15 minutes, Louis C.K. probably did only about an hour or an hour 10.
Martin/Short - I had no idea what to expect of this and it was the kind of thing much more appealing to a big fan than a casual fan. I'm a big fan, my wife more a casual fan. I liked it a lot more than her. Basically there were a few clips from funny sketches and routines from the past, with a couple of comedic songs with each, a little banjo and then most of it was just sort of them interviewing each other about how they got started, big moments in their careers, meeting various people, etc. and at the end questions from the audience. They're both quick so the interviews were still pretty funny, with Martin Short being the bigger ham of the 2. Steve Martin was actually closer to who Steve Martin is in real life than anything I've ever seen him do before. Very bright, quick witted, but analytical and reserved. Martin Short is very quick and bigger than life. He did do an interview segment as Jimminy Glick. Overall entertaining, but the audience questions got boring. A little too much like the Chris Farley Show that he used to do on SNL.
