As a Malick fan, I know what I'm getting into. He has a style. OTOH, I do agree it is nice to sometimes go in blind.

My all time favorite movie experience was seeing American Beauty knowing nothing about it but seeing the poster on the way in.
That said, if you're going to see a film without preconception, I think you generally have to keep an open mind and not be upset if it is unconventional (which seems to be the case for some).
