So here's a little background, long story short, etc...
My sister has a stepdaughter that was about 12 when she married her now loser ex-husband. She was a real sweet kid until she was about 16 and started hanging out with the "wrong crowd." She eventually got kicked out of high school and had to go to a continuation school. The family rallied around her, tried to get her help, to see that her so called "friends" weren't really her friends. It helped a little. Until of course she realized that her father, who swore he would make her a priority in his life, was full of shit, and wasn't making her a priority at all.
After my sister's ex walked out on his family, she (the step-daughter) was "torn" between them, even though she, on some level, knew what her dad was she defended him and went to live with him. Oh, and when I say live with him I mean that he set up a tent in the backyard for her to live in. After a few months she asked my sister if she could move in with her, and my sister agreed. But despite this, and everything my sister, and our side of the family did for her, she was a rude, disrespectful, dishonest shitheel, who constantly stole money from my sister (and her two younger sisters' piggy banks) and refused to work. And started to hang out with the wrong kinds of people again.
When things went south with the house my dad and sister owned she decided to move out with her boyfriend at that time, a methhead, who was "involved in amateur porn" according to her. She claimed she wasn't involved in any way with that, but there were at one time some pictures on her myspace page that worried us. Our suspicion was that this dirtbag was stringing girls out on meth, or whatever, and then getting them to do porn. We tried talking to her, asking her to get help, but we were just being uptight, etc., etc.
Over the next couple of years she would disappear for great lengths of time. Every time she'd show up she'd be strung out, end up stealing something from my sister (or her step-sisters), and then disappear again.
She reappeared yesterday. Still looking strung out. And three months pregnant.
