Due to our injuries down the stretch, he was in line to get a playoff start for us last year despite the fact that he didn't make his major league debut until late September. At the time, what everyone in the Braves organization said is that he had made the same leap with his pitching that Charlie Morton had made. The difference is that Beachy is absolutely ruthless in terms of makeup. Chipper thinks he has the type of killer instinct that only the greatest pitchers do.

There was some talk of a Matt Cain for Brandon Beachy deal in spring training and what I've read is that the Braves, not the Giants, backed off.
