i would suggest to brother that HE call her. just to tell her something (anything) from his life. if she thinks he's still going to share (but, he can do it on his own terms) she'll probably be less hurt.

it will take a bit of effort on his part though to make her feel 'involved' in his life. but if he gives her info, she won't necessarily go digging, and it can be what he feels she should know.
