Or, alternatively, before I would post something to all 300 friends but only 30 of you cared. But the other 270 just ignored it anyway. And by whittling down the people that are posting to you, isn't it going to make the equivalent news feed more of a ghost town, and make people feel less talked to, so they won't log in as much?

I'm skeptical this will be all that great for people beyond super-users.
