that very likely means an anovulatory period. When there's no corpus luteum from an egg release, the period doesn't stop. If the doctor chooses to stop it, the treatment is a big dose of progesterone for several days. When the progesterone stops, she will get another period, probably quite heavy, and it will end normally. That should be the end of it. Basically it's hitting the reset button.

I went through this numerous times before going on insulin-reducing meds 9 years ago.
