What is the preferred format of video files from other media? Like DVDs or TV shows saved to disk to be played back?

wmv? mp4? avi?

    - Torrenters (in your example), typically put Divx or Xvid (which are MPEG-4 video derivaties) inside AVI because it has great compression ratios -- nm - oblique Jan 7, 09:45 3

        It's still my format of choice on my MythTV. Never have audio sync issues when transcoding to it using Nero, even with AC3 audio tracks - oblique Jan 7, 09:49 1
