"Let's punch him!" doesn't seem like very clever writing. They didn't even explore very well why Gog was bad for earth other than "he's killing the earth!" I'll grant you that the Source Wall was clever, though.
Also, at this point, bringing the Kingdom Come universe into the new DCU multiverse was no shocker. They're folding the Impact and Milestone heroes into Earth-1, and they've turned every "elseworlds" story into an alternate earth, so this was nothing special.
