If I pay $1 for a hot dog and the vendor raises it to $1.50, that is also a 50% increase, but its also $.50. - Guy Jul 13, 18:38 10
- the percentage is a way of comparing it to any other rate increase. if the hot dog all of a sudden cost you $7, you wouldn't be saying "it's only six - dogbert Jul 13, 18:46
