I suppose I sort of empathize with them in some aspect, as my company is facing a similar situation

The price of wool & cotton has risen drastically in the last year or so. We are trying to wait out and be the last yarn/fabric company to raise our prices, but even then we know our customers will be irate - even though we have been the most affordable for several years.

People seem to forget the hundreds of dollars they have saved over the years and only look at the extra dollar on their ball of yarn.

Sure, there are other options. All the employees could defer their bonuses and pay increases for a year and cut down on things like lights & heating/cooling. We could probably pinch enough pennies to stave off the increase longer.

Or our customers can realize we're still offering some of the best value in our industry and be reasonable about it (but that won't happen).
