*shrug* guess i'm weird. might just be a familiarity thing. public transportation has never been all that predominant, or user-friendly, in this area

again, i've never let it stop me, and i've used public transportation in new places from the west coast to the east coast, but i'd be lying if i said i didn't find some of the systems somewhat confusing (and thus intimidating) as a new passenger (stops aren't clear or announced, destinations aren't clear, how/when to pay the fares is unclear), and felt better when i had someone with me.
if i polled the people in my area, i wouldn't be surprised if easily half have never been on a public bus in this area, and probably only 10% if that have traveled or commuted on a train here. we just didn't grow up with it and it's not ingrained in us.
